The word “Morocco” 🇲🇦 comes from the Berber Ameṛṛuk (ⴰⵎⵕⵕⵓⴽ) and in arabic is Maghreb ( the east or sunset ), diminutive of Amurakuch (Marrakech), which was the former capital Almoravid and Almohad.
Amurakuch comes from Amur n Wakouch (ⴰⵎⵓⵔ ⵏ ⵡⴰⴽⵓⵛ), which means land of God.
Morocco is also a member of the Arab League – that is not make Morocco officially an arab country. While the adjective “African” to describe Morocco is a geographical fact, the use of “Arab” has also alienated many Moroccans who know identify is an Amazigh (Berbers).
